How do I download and install an Ethiopian map on a Garmin 62s

0

I am brand new to the GPS world and mapping for that matter. I was just given a Garmin 62s and am trying to download a few maps. Specifically, I am trying to get any mapping available for this device in Ethiopia. I found a site titled "Free worldwide routable maps for Garmin GPS, but was not able to submit an e-mail address for the server to create a map.

Can someone please coach me through downloading maps to this device?

On the wiki page OSM Map On Garmin/Download you will find a lot of maps for Garmin.

For example this Ethiopia map is updated at least weekly and you don't need email to download it.

With a new Garmin device simply create a folder called "Garmin" on your SD-card and store the .img file in it. Make sure the file is called "gmapsupp.img". For more details on this see OSM Map On Garmin/Mass Storage Mode.
