There are two forms of gate
Both of these are supported in the iD editor. Should a service road intersect a gate marked up as a line, at a gate point? |

I believe it should, assuming the service road passes through the gate (not just near it). The advice on the wiki seems sensible: "Add a node on the intersection between any footways and the gate, also tagged with barrier=gate, much like how crossings are mapped.
